DETAILS

This doubles league will involve one hour of instruction followed by one hour of doubles point play for 7 weeks.

Where?:  Waveland Tennis Courts. They are located at Lake Shore Drive off of either Recreation Drive or Irving Park Road.  The class runs 8:00-10:00pm every Tuesday for seven weeks

Parking?:  There is meter parking surrounding the courts.

What equipment will I need?:  You will need to have either tennis shoes or some sort of shoes that have a flat bottom, without tread.  We also encourage you to wear something different on your feet than what you will play in.  You will also need to have your own racket.

What if I have a team and one of us cannot make it?:  The first option is to find someone to sub.  If you do not want to or cannot, we still encourage you to show up.  There is still the instruction portion and the way the matches are structured we can work around teams of one.  Unfortunately, there is absolutely no way to make up the class if you cannot find a sub and cannot make it.

What is the format?:  The format for the tennis program is one hour of high energy drills & instruction followed by one hour of exciting 'point-play' games.

Point-play games involve all the doubles teams all the time.  There is no 'sitting out' during rotations.  Each game will have a specific points structure, with the winning doubles team awarded points toward their evenings total.  Each team will accrue points as they play each evening and as always we will crown a champion team at the end of the session.

An example of a points-play game is:
We will have a 'champion team' play against three 'challenging teams'.  The challenging teams require two wins over the champion team to take their champions spot.  Points can only be won while on the champion side, so they are rewarded for their wins over the challenging teams.  The doubles team that accrued the most points during the allotted time take the overall win.  You could expect to play three or four different types of these games each evening.

I signed up as an individual, so who do I play with?:  About half of the registrations are teams of two and the other half are individuals.  We will pair up the individuals to form a team of two, and we will email you your partners contact information.

What if I have my own team and only want to play with my partner?:  The point of this session is to not only play tennis, but work on and improve individual skills and doubles techniques, while also offering a fun, social atmosphere.  The only real way to get better is to play with different styles and different skill levels.  You will always play with your partner, unless one of the players do not show up, then we will shuffle things around a little.

What if there is really bad weather?:  If there is conflict ever we may cancel.  We will get in touch with you via text message if there is a cancellation.  You can also call our weather hotline at 312-733-7100 and you will be given the instructors phone number the first night as well.  It is important that we have your cell phone number in case of a cancellation.
